Introduction
International Women's Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women’s Day, is marked on March 8 every year. In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries, primarily Eastern Europe, Russia, and the former Soviet bloc. In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and Valentine's Day. In other regions, however, the original political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner.

So, the “woman’s day” has been celebrated since ancient times, namely gods used to celebrate the goddess Rhea, known as “mother of all gods” or “mother goddess”. Godess Rhea is associated with the earth, as her name suggests. For this reason, the supreme goddess’ celebration can be interpreted as celebrating the earth creator, the mother symbolizing rebirth. It’s very true that, at present, woman’s day has a completely different symbolism, but its essence comes since ancient times.

Moreover, people throw parties, shows and concerts in honor of ladies everywhere. There are several reasons for which the woman’s day is celebrated and can be different from one culture to another. But mostly, the main reason for celebrating this day is assessing all feminine values, expressing respect for the fair sex, as well as marking woman’s achievements in the economics, politics and social plane, taking into account the inequalities between sexes that have shaded the woman’s reputation during time.
Therefore, woman’s day can also be considered a day in which the equality between men and women is recognized. The first national woman’s national day has been organized on February 28th, 1909 in United States, at the Socialist Party of America’s decision. In this special day, 100 women from 17 countries met and discussed about the day in which it was going to be celebrated until the present day; the persons who took part in this meeting have developed a strategy which involved the promotion of equal rights between women and men, the most important aspect being the woman’s right to vote. On 18th of March 1911, the International Woman’s Day has been celebrated for the first time in several states, among which Denmark, Austria and Switzerland.
