The book which I have already read is entitled “American History”. I have read the chapter named “The road to Independence”. The main idea is to show that the revolution was effected before the war commenced. The revolution was in the hearts and minds of the people. Are you one of those people, who suppose that the history of American Revolution began long before the first shots were fired in 1775? If it so, you would be wonder of this exciting book. The genre of the book is a politician history, thus at the beginning showed the demonstration of information and the main dates. In short it starts with the representation of colonies situation with France an Britain. Furthermore we get to know about the ways of interior policy, including financial policy and fearing settlers. The main part of the chapter devoted to the person of Samuel Adams, whose goals were to free people from their awe of social and political superiors. But Adams didn’t have enough fuel to set a fire. The revolution began with general Thomas Gage, whose main duty was to enforce the Coercive Acts. In January 1776 Thomas Paine published a pamphlet, where he attacked the idea of hereditary monarchy, he advised a way of liberty as a key bedingung of independence. Largel Jefferson’s work The Declaration of Independence adopted July 4, 1776 not only announced the birth of a new nation, but also set forth a philosophy of human freedom that would become a dynamic force throughout the entire world. In the Declaration Jefferson linked Locke’s principles directly to the situation in the colonies. The fight for American independence was to fight for a government based on popular consent in place of a government by a king who had combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution. Summing it all up author emphasized that War for Independence was also a civil war. American Loyalists opposed the revolution took up arms against the rebels. After that Americans preferred to forget about the Loyalists. They become the non-persons in American history. | |
